Please type every phrase four times (no matter how strong your desire will be to peek into the keyboard, please do not cheat!).

I realize some might be confused with the necessity to type my name but it’s a really good exercise, believe me.

It contains quite a few letters from all the rows. While typing I want you to communicate with me, your teacher, and remember about my recommendations and advice.

    69. Очень длинный текст

Please, type 142 lines of a difficult text. You can’t make a single error here. But if you do this exercise with the highest possible score, it doesn’t mean that you can touch-type. It means that you will be able to touch-type like this after you finish the course.

So, there are 142 lines to type. We don’t know how long it will take you but we believe in you. Go ahead!

educated people can do a lot in life.
    genius is often misunderstood.
it’s a pity our complicated world is
governed by people of other-than-good qualities.
each of us can improve himself or herself
each of us can make his of her life
    better.
each of us can influence other people.
not all people are ready to face reality.
    we should believe in ourselves.
    it’s very simple.
people are often depressed. it’s sad.
depression is a serious obstacle on the
    way to success.
the world can really become better.
    it depends on state heads.
    why can’t people agree?
they are involved in wars, murders,
    violence.
there are no deadlocks; there are
    desperate people.
it takes us two years to learn to speak.
it takes us the rest of our lives to
    learn when to remain silent.
    everyone needs kindness.
not everyone is brave enough to reveal it.
    love makes people free.
    don’t envy.
selfrespect doesn’t let us do something bad.
    great human abilities
to love, to feel, to be involved.
    altruism is disinterested care
    about other people,
the ability to sacrifice your own interests.
to be egoistic is to put your own interests
    above everything else.
love is continuous confirmation of each
    other.
    life is a deadly malady.
life is a queue for death.
    some, however, jump the queue.
don’t mourn those who passed away.
be grateful they were with you.
many of us know what the world should
be like but few want to do something
    to change it.
    start any change with yourself.
    easier said than done.
the world is full of demagoguery.
the world is full of catastrophes.
    whereas we speak and speak.
    we need to act instead.
if one of us helps another person,
    the world will become better.
we waste a lot of time.
a person is often his own enemy.
    alcohol, drugs, cigarettes.
we forget to take care about ourselves.
    vices multiply.
there is a lot of hate and violence in
    the world.
a person should be respected because he
    is human,
    regardless of his faith, nationality,
    language or skin.
    respect world religions.
    it’s all so simple.
it’s all so difficult to do.
    the world should unite.
people should realize they are humans.
then the world will become better.
    tv can change the world.
the internet can help a lot.
kind and clever people are needed
    everywhere.
    say no to terrorism.
an online community of clever educated
    people.
    people need mercy.
    honesty is often forgotten.
violence against nature is personal violence.
    life will become much better
if people are kind and understanding,
and give a hand to every person who
    needs it.
every person should start with himself.
    it’s all very simple.
    it’s all very difficult.
let’s take the world as it is.
let’s be responsible for what we are
    doing.
    hard life shouldn’t frighten us.
    hard life makes us stronger.
a lot depends on each of us.
each of us is a whole world.
the world is incomplete without any
    of us.
    let’s be understanding and merciful
to those who are near us,
    to our parents, colleagues, friends
    and all people around us.
    let’s create positive change;
    what could be better.
    what banal words.
    it’s all very simple.
    it’s all very difficult.
    that’s how we should live.
    to realize how simple and
how hard it is to live.
    it’s good, excellent, amazing.

    71. Заглавные буквы (F), кавычки, вопросительный и восклицательный знаки

So, what have we learned to do having done 70 lessons of the typing course? We have hopefully mastered three letter rows of the keyboard, we have slightly practiced typing colon, semi-colon, inverted commas, apostrophe, comma, period and hyphen. That’s not too little, I should say. However, it does not mean that we have reached the finish; there’s still a lot to practice with. First of all, there are more symbols to be able to find on the keyboard by touch. Besides, we haven’t touched upon typing numbers and CAPITAL LETTERS.

That’s what we are concerned with in this lesson!

Quite a few lessons ago in the course we learned to type a period at the end of every sentence. It’s time to start typing capital letters. That’s what we need Shifts for. There are two identical keys which continue the bottom row of the keyboard. They are pressed with the idle little finger. So if you need to type A, you should press it together with pressing the right Shift. If you need to type J, you should press it together with pressing the left Shift (releasing them simultaneously).

The same rule applies when we need to type “?”

It is worth trying to make your life

    better.

It is worth gaining self confidence.

    No hopeless situations?

    Humans want to be happy.

We can find support with friends.

We dream of a true friend.

A person studies touch typing, and becomes a good person.

    Am I a good person?

    Am I a kind person?

    I am an honest person.

    I am an intelligent person.

    I am a noble person.

    I won’t hurt a weak person?

  37. 01. Instead of the Handshake

    01. Разминки с буквами основного ряда (f, j, g, h, d)

You can always look at the interactive keyboard at the bottom of the exercise window to see which finger to use for the letter you need.

    f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f

This time let’s type two lines of the letter j. Use your right hand’s index finger for o and your left thumb to make a space.

Touch the keys in the same confident manner without hammering them.

    j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j j

There’s one more easy task to do. Type three lines of the letter g with your left hand’s index finger. Can you guess which finger is responsible for the space? Right, it’s right hand’s thumb.

    g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g g

Now let’s type four lines of the letter h with the right hand’s index finger. Make a space with the left hand’s thumb.

    h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h h

Please type four lines of the letter d with your left hand’s middle finger. You can always consult the interactive keyboard for help. Press the space bar with the right hand’s thumb.

We are sure you will cope with this task easily. Difficult tasks will be later on.

    d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d

Here comes the first serious task. Let’s type one line of the letter f (left hand’s index finger) and one letter of the letter j (right hand’s index finger).

    02. Разминки с буквами основного ряда (s, l, j, h, f)

Please type one line of a wild but very useful combination jh with your right index finger. Which finger should press the space bar? I think you have already guessed—with your left thumb.

jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh jh

Please type three lines of the letter s with your left ring finger. Press the space bar with your right thumb.

    s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s s

Please type two lines of the letter l with your right ring finger.

When doing the tasks, try not to look at the real keyboard, use the on-screen keyboard.

    l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l

Here is the task, which some will find ridiculously easy, on the one hand, and absolutely difficult, on the other. You will need to reveal persistence, patience, attention and willpower.

You need to type four lines of the letter f with the left hand’s index finger.

You already typed this letter for two lines. This time you type letter f for four lines.

    f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f f

  39. 03. A is for Apple

    03. Мизинцы правой и левой руки (a, ; ')

Please type two lines of the letter a with your left little finger. The space bar, as you can guess, is pressed with the right thumb.

Your left little finger is going to be very busy in the next tasks, as it is in charge of the only vowel in the home row. We can hardly go without it if we want to type words instead of jh-abracadabra (a-rich word it is, isn’t it?)

For now, it’s only two lines, just to get used to the process. More practice is to follow.

    a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a

And what about the right little finger? It also does some important job but is in charge of semi-colon for a change.

So will you please type two lines of semi-colon? Don’t forget about the space bar. Your left hand is supposed to take care of it.

    ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;

One more symbol is typed with the right hand’s little finger. It is the apostrophe. You just need to stretch your little finger a bit to the right and press the last key before Enter. If you do it for two lines, you will cope with this exercise.

    ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '

Let’s get back to letters and try to type a short but useful word as. It’s your left hand’s job to type “as,” and the right hand is in charge of the space bar. Two lines, please.

as as as as as as as as as as as as as

Here is the last task in this lesson. You have done similar tasks and must cope with this one as easily. Press letter k, check on the screen that it’s OK and go on typing with your right hand’s middle finger, to say nothing of the left hand’s thumb. So, three lines of k, please.

There is no denying that lesson 77 is very challenging. It requires your best qualities and we hope it will give you a great deal of satisfaction.

To begin with, please type the following text twice. Please accept our apologies for bringing up a subject of smoking. However, we strongly believe that if anything is worth trying, it’s anti-smoking campaign.

    Anyway, it’s just a task.

    There are cigarettes “The User,”

    “The Lamer,” “The Soloist,”

    “Dummy,” “Any Key,” “Cool,”

    “Plug and Play,” “The Bug,”

    “Hacker and sons,” “Programmer.”

    These are my enemies.

    I must give up smoking!

    But why can’t I?

    I will surely give up!

    Why spend money on damaging

your own health and that of

    other people around you?

    I will fight smoking!!!

I will try to persuade others

    to give up this habit.

    I will convince, reassure, beg,

    entreat, insist, and demand.

    Each line five times, please.

Falling asleep, it is useful to remember

    your childhood.

All should fall asleep in a good mood.

Before falling asleep we should remember

    everything positive we have lived

    through.

    We should learn to listen.

    Do you agree?

    I do!

I want others to understand me!!!

    Please type the text twice.

I am learning to touch-type on the

    computer keyboard.

My fingers are getting used to “playing”

    on the keyboard.

My computer understands me, and I

    understand my computer.

    I need a good monitor.

I need a better sound card.

    I need a speedy modem.

    How shall I earn money?

    How can I be appreciated?

How to stop worrying about trifles?

    I will earn money!

    Hurrah!

I will make others appreciate me.

    That’s wonderful!!!

    I won’t worry about trifles.

    That’s wise of me!

You need to type the phrases to follow three times.

    I won’t criticize Bill Gates.

    I will criticize Bill Gates.

    As yet I make errors.

I will read Bill Gates’ books.

I won’t read Bill Gates’ books.

    I am not Bill Gates.

    I am good!

    What am I cut to?

    How can I achieve success?

Here is one more text to type.

    I am a devoted friend!

    Do you know people well?

Who will teach me to resist trifles?

A lot depends on us, each of us!

    Doesn’t it?

Let’s type the phrases, three times each.

I am tired of earning money.

Though it’s hard to live without it,

    isn’t it?

    I am all against vulgarity,

    gossip, and roughness.

    And you?

I can have a thrilling life!

I will have a thrilling life.

    I will help my friends.

I will find a satisfying job.

The following text needs to be typed twice.

You cannot make someone love you.

All you can do is be someone

    who can be loved.

The rest is up to them.

No matter how much I care,

some people just don’t care back.

It takes years to build up trust,

and only seconds to destroy it.

It’s not what you have in your life

but who you have in your life

    that counts.

You can get by on charm for

    about fifteen minutes.

After that, you’d better know something.
