[Languages] Reach a confident level in Chinese
This is a low-priority, long-term goal that I will work on whenever I feel like it rather than on a fixed schedule.
How I will know I've achieved it
- I can read Chinese texts and understand the main ideas without constantly relying on translation.
- I can watch Chinese dramas with Chinese subtitles and follow the story comfortably.
- I can communicate in Chinese well enough to be understood in everyday conversations.
Why this goal matters
One of my motivations is simple enjoyment. Sometimes I want to relax by watching something visually beautiful without having to concentrate on complex plots. I enjoy Chinese dramas, but translations—especially English subtitles—are often inaccurate or lose important nuances.
Another motivation is reducing my dependence on translations. I want to be able to read technology news and other original Chinese sources directly instead of relying on someone else's interpretation.
