9/11: In Memoriam

Yesterday I've refused to say what I don't like in Belarus because it is filled with negativity and could be inappropriate to read.

That's a real pity that today I went to the Belarussian newsfeed tut.by and noticed this and this. The original article was accorded to 9/11 museum, and nothing foretold troubles I guess...

LOOK AT THOSE FUCKERS! this is what I really hate in Belarussian and Russian people. And I am really proud that I decided to leave them.

Sure, they just follow the instructions from the Russian government as we all know. But you know what? It becomes even more disgusting when you realise that governments of Russia and Belarus are full of bastards who are really pleased with such tragedies just because they're American :), and our people even support them!

I hope I won't include any Russian/Belarussian disgusting things into my posts any more.

*Nothing foretold troubles - an idiom: it's when you thought the situation couldn't cause a bad ending but it happened.

I just have one thing to say: the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Katie, I understand you. But, you know, I would say there are deeds which are definitely evil, no matter on which side of the fence you live :)

Jon Snow, in the beginning, I understood not so. Now everything has become clear after your explanations. :)

"Filled with negativity" would be better. I almost forgot :)

One_more_time, "filled with negativity" it is!

One_more_time, I would like to say about the topic as honestly as you did.

1 I respect people who speak honestly about their feelings like you, and I need to say about my attitude to people even if they support Russia with the way inappropriate to me. I do not think I'm 'better' because I hate Russian government and think that people supporting it are 'brainwashed'. I think people have reasons to support it even if I don't understand their reasons.

2. Terrorism is the global threat of the whole world. I don't think that if Al-Kaeda wants to attack the USA they are not threating to Russia and Belarus. But the support of their attack, even non-public, is completely disgusting and definitely inappropriate for EVERY society.

However, as you could see, there were people who dared to say: "Hey, you've invaded Afganistan and Iraq, so that's the result! Maybe if you'd burn your hands you stop your propaganda of 'european' culture and your way of life! People just don't want your principles in their lives, get off!". And there were people who said: "That was an answer of Arabian culture to your aggression; guess what happen if you would threat Russia!". Isn't it the same awful as the acceptance/support of terrorism?

3. Russian government needs a support, but what if many people supports them without any direct request from government? :) The fact that Russian and Belarussian governments support this disgusting attitude to America as theirs 'rival' (if I could call this 'rivalry' at all because Russian attempt to be a 'rival' of the USA looks ridiculous :) ) is disgusting too. If someone is pleased by tragedy which has happened in the 'hostile' country, isn't it awful? Only xenophobes would gloat over tragedies in another countries, even if those countries are 'rivals'.

4. Speaking about precedents... People of many Islamic states like Palestine and Iraq accepted 9/11 too, because they thought like Russian 'patriots': "America threatens us => we hate it". I think people have a right to argue about sanctions on Russia, about Crimea occupation and war in Syria, but IT DOESN'T MEAN HATING PEOPLE because of rivalry between countries!

5. Well... Perhaps I understand why some people gloat over tragedies or incidents in the USA. They do it because they think American culture and politics threatens their own culture and lifestyle. But I think if the America culture made Eastern cultures to disappear, it would be more good than bad. For example, islam would become a story, because it's really disgusting to use sharia as a law in the XXI century world. I think the disappearance of 'russian world' and 'soviet society' would lead to positive consequences for Russian people because autoritarism brings suffer to the society, and 'Russian democracy' actually is a taunt of the term of 'democracy' itself! If national traditions and habits are going to die until XXII century, why not let them go? The death of traditions like woman circumcision in Sudan and dropping corpses into Ganges in India would make the humanity much stronger - let the people eat hamburgers, drink cola and wear jeans instead! :) (Yes, I agree that cola + hamburgers + jeans may not be the 'ideal' way, but it's much better than xenophobia, Islamism and traditionalism).

Jon Snow, 2. It's mostly a discussion of actions and consequences that doesn't mean yet support of terrorism. I don't like threats about what would happen if there's a threat to Russia though, that's not smart.

5. You mix so many different things into one point. I just want to notice that the US are also full of xenophobic people. And people also try to keep their traditions. I think your expectations are a bit unrealistic.

Cultures should improve but we can't decide which culture has to just disappear. It's a very disrespectful thing to say. People of different cultures want to maintain certain features but move to a better future.

Also, about Russian democracy... it's a funny thing (in a sad way). Have you read a book "The shock doctrine"?

(I've deleted my previous comment because it got too personal and I don't want other people to read it)

One_more_time, I appreciate you for your opinion and for the comment you've deleted. If you need to post it for me, you can use a chat. Your opinion is interesting and I'm curious what did you want to tell me.

5. Some disgusting things, like woman circumcision and dropping corpses into Ganges must disappear. I don't disrespect people who were born with such things in their cultures but I don't understand why they support this if it's disgusting. Maybe it's because I don't understand why one should maintain the national culture at all... Especially when it's traditional and Islamic :) Islamic and tribal traditions haven't any 'better future', IMHO they are going to die this or next century.

I think you're right, even in the U.S. there are xenophobic people. But most of Americans are not xenophobic.

I haven't read "The shock doctrine" yet, but maybe I'll do it. Thank you.

Jon Snow, it's been a long time since I've said anything about politics on the internet, it's better to keep it that way, at least for now. I don't know why I couldn't resist this time. Thank you for the invitation to the chat. Although it's unlikely that I'll use it. It's a lesson for me to keep interactions here not so personal.

I agree with you about such things as women circumcision. It's a tradition. It's more productive and safe to discuss specific traditions out there. Because culture is so much more. It's a mixture of different things. It's language, food, music, dances, literature, behavior and lots of other things. I want to believe in education. Educated open-minded people can understand what is bad about their culture and bring it to the end. And they can appreciate good things about their culture and develop that.

I hope you'll read that book. I remembered about it because there's a chapter about Russia and the impact of American people on it. Other chapters are also engaging and educational. The author is Canadian, which is good for us.
